It's the type of joke you either get of you don't. I thought it was funny, but I understand many types of humor.

I think it's called nonsensism? You have to be proficient in hyperbole, parodies, satire and sarcasm to understand the caricatures Mike created.

See, I generally consider myself a pretty brash guy, and have been told that I have a pretty thick skin for myself. I guess I "get" dark humor, but I draw a line at making jokes about child molestation, or jokes at the expense of groups of people - transgender people, "alternative" sexual orientations, races, religions, or those with disabilities. I also tend to shy away from making light of genocide, such as his jocular (and very hilarious, I'm sure) reference to Pol Pot in the comments on YouTube.

Just because I didn't find his jokes tasteful or funny doesn't mean I take all of life seriously. I just happen not to think that child molestation, bigotry, and the murder of millions of people are funny, in particular. BUT...

Perhaps you can help me to see the bright side of the jokes though. I do so love to laugh. Can you explain what makes those jokes funny? Approach your explanation as if I was sexually assaulted as a child; or as if I am a transgender black woman, struggling to fit in in society; or as if my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and/or grandparents were slaughtered by the Khmer Rouge. Help me understand the funny.

There were no jokes victimizing trans, molested children or anything. I can laugh at myself, and most... lets call them minorities to keep it simple (although I hate that word), are capable of laughing at themselves as well.

Laughing at something bad doesn't make you a bad person. Laughing at racial jokes, sex jokes, midget jokes, Hitler/Jew jokes, any kind of joke is fine as long as you can take it when it's aimed at you, and you aren't trying to hurt anyone by saying it.

Context matters, and there is nothing malicious here. It's humor, not hate.
